Deserves better rating (spoilers)

This deserves better than the 5.7 it's getting on IMDb now. I never found it boring. Also, it breaks some stereotypes of the science fiction of the day. The attractive woman scientist isn't rescued by a handsome young man but ends up getting killed by the alien. Also, the alien, while quite nasty, is allowed to leave the earth after finishing his mission.

I mentioned the attractive woman scientist. Actually, that's another point worth discussing. You notice that they didn't try to make her look like a perfect beauty. They left her little facial blemishes. She was intended to be attractive enough to be sought by the alien, but not so attractive that her looks overshadowed her role as a scientist. That's impressive for that time.

Just watched it again. Unfortunately I have the colorized version, which looks awful, but I don't hold that against it. The points you note are practically the only good things about the movie. I also like the oddball aspect of sleaziness and an alien hanging out in a porno book shop.
The explanations and all the techno-babble are utter nonsense.
The premise is ridiculous (Civilization on Ganymede is human and needs human women to help breed out their, apparently radiation induced, physical deformities.)
Events happen in a jumbled, goofy, way and the reactions of characters are highly improbable. I really don't think the writer thought any of it through so what was attempting to be a Quatermass type story is reduced to nonsense... I mean, it's watchable, even likable, but the current rating of 5.5 seems generous.
