what ever happened to Pamela Franklin?

She was so good in so many movies in the '60s and early '70s and then sort of disappeared. What happened to her?

While listening to the audio commentary of "The Prime Of Miss Jean Brodie", Pamela Franklin mentions that she slowly realized that acting wasn't "fun" anymore. By that time, she was married and had a couple of children to care for. She also said in the commentary that she "enjoys being a wife and stay-at-home mom".

Nice to hear she bowed out of her own accord instead of getting forced out. I always loved watching TV and seeing something with Pamela Franklin in it, while growing up, and I simply adored her in the Prime of Miss Jean Brodie. I annoyed my mother by affecting Franklin's accent from Brodie for a while, too.

Her kids must be grown up by now; maybe she'll rediscover acting and we can all enjoy her talent again.

Am I anywhere near the imaginary cliff?

I thought she should have gotten a supporting actress nom for Brodie.

Dorothy stop that, Mr. Ha Ha`s lookin at you!!

I think she mentions disappointment that when she moved to the US she was told that actors don't 'diversify' themselves as they do in England, mixing stage, screen and television - she was advised to pick one and stick with it (preferably a TV series, I think). And yes, a Best Supporting Actress nod would not have been out-of-order for her JEAN BRODIE performance, but she got edged out by some heavy-duty performances and a lightweight winner.

"In my case, self-absorption is completely justified."

If you love Pamela Franklin, you REALLY need to see both The Legend of Hell House and Our Mother's House. If you haven't already... Ah, Hell, see 'em both again.

I believe Hell House is the TCM Underground feature tonight on Turner Classic Movies.
