Ending
What happened at the end. I mean the very end. I saw it until when they were getting ready to hang Sydney but I missed the rest. What happened to Calif and Sydney's wife? Did they leave town or what? Thanks!!!
sharei guess it's implied that Calif and Hannah collected whatever money they could from Uncle Lute and the farm, etc., and left.

shareHe shot and killed the preacher and they tend to frown on that. As he just got out of jail for manslaughter, he probably'd go right back in again as that what he'd be convicted of with the preacher.
That look of fatalism/resignation when the gun went off and the preacher was shot dead ... well I think the look on Calif's face said it all. He was going back to jail.
Yeah, that sounds more like the way it went down. I'd read a review somewhere that said the whole movie ended tragically for everyone, so I guess Calif didn't make it out of that town, but I am glad he killed that sheriff anyway.
shareThe sheriff didn't get killed, he was shot in the leg and was still alive when Calif killed Hanson. Maybe the sheriff put in a good word for Calif and he was let go to leave Spooner with Hannah.
