This movie was much better than I had anticipated. This is also, from what I have seen, the closest that Marlon Brando has come to doing an action film.
He seemed very committed in his performance, and had to do a lot physically towards the end of this picture. Very admirable...Yul Brynner was great support for him as well.

I really enjoyed this flick. Brando was superb! I think Yul Brenner was miscast as he just doesnt have the look of a German ship captain but other than that I think this film was excellent.

BRANDO is the one actor who can do whatever he wanted to.
He was in shape, fast, very according to his role. He did great if you ask me. I didnt hope very much of this movie though, but i really liked it.
And btw, i worship Brando too... this guy was too extraordinary for beign just human.
I really enjoyed this film and thought all the performances in it were good and Brando's reluctant hero was one of the best seen in this type of WW2 movie. I'm also a huge Brando fan but have to disagree slightly with your categorising this film as an 'action movie' and saying it proves Brando can do action.
There wasn't actually that much action in the movie and a fare section of Brando's scenes moving around the ship were done with a stunt double.
Just to make myself clear- I'm not saying that Brando can't do action- just that the movies he generally made didn't ask for it.
That having been said, if you want to see Brando 'in action', I think the last 1/3 of On the Waterfront is as good as things get!
So this was definitely worth seeing than ? i'm a big fan MB ive seen alot of his past great works and he's so hypnotizing too watch.It's like you can't help but take your eyes off him its very hard to do .The guys a genius for sure

Yeah this was surprisingly interesting movie and brando and yul played off each other with perfection.One thing i noticed about brandos performances as he got older was.You could tell the performances that he really cared for and the others he was just fluffing.This was one of those performances he seemed to be commited too and enjoy.
Therefore we may call that art true at which does not seem to be art."
