Nuked landscape, family mental illness, creepy butler, cold shoulder instead of a welcome. Doesn't matter, still want THAT girl despite all the deadly baggage!

With a total lack of compassion, Stephen strikes the dying Letitia to the ground with a heavy candlestick, merely because her face happens to be disfigured. It's understandable that he wanted to make an impression on his future in-laws, but did he really have to make such a physical impression on her body?

Have to agree with the OP. On the positive side, with the in-laws out of the way, you can get that girl and some decent (if somewhat irradiated) real estate.

Well, she was a very cute and sweet girl, and anyways in the time we are now red flags being ignored are a normal thing. That's why a few of my old buddies go out with hot girls who are bipolar a can go nuts at the drop of the hat.
