Did it have the song 'Masquerade' (solved)

Did it have the theme song of the same title?

reply

The theme song was called "Masquerade." It was written for the movie and was sung by Danny Williams, a South African singer, whose style was similar to Johnny Mathis. It's hard to find, but you can occasionally get a copy of the 45 on E-bay. United Artists Records # 860.

Thanks. It was a longtime hit in my country, the Philippines and I think back there it is still played on some radio programs with romantic themes. Actually, Matt Monro was the singer that came to mind when I remembered this song. It has a fine mandolin sequence which still rings in my memory.

The theme song was written especially for the film and was used over the animated opening credits sequence, a sequence similar to that used in the original "The Pink Panther." It was performed by Danny Williams, a South African singer, who had had a top 40 hit the year before with "White on White." It was only released as a 45 rpm record (United Artists 45 # 860) and there was no soundtrack LP of Philip Green's score.
