Maybe they just needed more bran in their diet?
(Possible Spoiler.) At the close of the movie, as the remnants of Dundee's command ride off, the narrator says something about a fight with French "irregulars" before crossing the Rio Grande. I find this confusing. Didn't they just cross the Rio Grande after that big bloody battle with the French cavalry? If he is referring to that fight, how was the cavalry "irregular"? They certainly looked like regular troops to me, with their uniforms, helmets and lances. Or was that river not the Rio Grande, and the narrator is commenting on some fight we do not get to see that took place after the big climactic battle?share
