Rod Steiger was damn funny


I've seen a lot of his movies, not all, but after I saw this I wished he could have had more comedic roles.

Something about him kinda reminded me of Bill Murray as Bunny Breckinridge in Ed Wood - not a big resemblance, just a little one.

Yeah he was an amazing actor. Just intensely brilliant in his roles. For something equally wacky I would recommend people check him out in "No Way to Treat A Lady" for his tour de force performance as a serial killer donning various disguises.

Agree with all of the above. He was genius in The Loved One. Dare I say they don't make them quite like him anymore.

This is one of the few instances where Rod Steiger's tendency to overact actually helps the movie. I agree that he's far better here than in most of his dramatic roles, I've always thought that he and other hammy overactors would be better off plying their trade in farces like this one.
