one of the few flicks to attempt decent Tiger tanks

I assume they were mock-ups? A tad anachronistic since some tiger-looking tanks (they may be Panzer IV Ausf. 2 tanks, but even those didnt come till 1942) appear during the Barbarossa June 1941 segment of the film. It's too bad all they do is roll by in the background. A scene or two with a Tiger fighting off the T-34's (which they had at least a few real ones of those for this movie) would have really sold it to me.

I think the tigers were just wooden mock-ups seated on cars... like in DIE BRUCKE?

I thought maybe the Russians may have had a few genuine Tigers tucked away somewhere but seems not.I recently saw a Russian film called "Zvezda"(The Star-2002) and they also made a decent attempt at depicting Tiger 1`s-top marks still go to "Saving Private Ryan" and "Kelly`s Heroes" though.

well HOT SNOW and OSVOBOZHDENIE have some decent T-55's mocked up as Tigers. There's a couple so-so ones (originally T-34's) in BATTLE OF NERETVA and SUTJESKA too.
