I don't get this movie

Maybe it's supposed to be "artsy" or "deep" or something but this movie made absolutely NO sense to me. The things I couldn't understand mostly was:

1. Why Daisy didn't seem happy to get her break if it was her dream to be a star. She never for one minute EVER seemed to appreciate it.

2. Why did Robert Redford marry her only to leave her on the honeymoon? If he was gay and married her to be a beard (during those times it wasn't acceptable to be publicly gay) then why dump her so soon?

3. Did Swan's wife have an affair w/Robert Redford?

4. Did Swan want Daisy? (Haven't finished watching but that was a pretty passionate kiss on his part when he was telling Daisy he'd get her marriage annulled)

5. How old was Daisy supposed to have been? I thought 15 but if that was the case then wasn't Robert Redford committing molestation by being w/her as well as Swan in that kiss as only a few years could've past since she was discovered making her still under 18

6. Finally, how old was Natalie Wood IRL in this movie? Though she was small enough to play a 15 yr old, she appeared to be in her early to mid 30s.

7. THis pic did NOT have a "feel" of the period it was supposed to be set in....the 1930s.

I agree with all u said.

Me, too; exact same gripes. And I could forgive one or some of these anomalies and plot holes if the movie were at least entertaining or fun but unfortunately not the case with IDC.

I told you a million times not to talk to me when I'm doing my lashes!

I think it had to do with the fact that Swan, with her sister's help, put her mother in a home as soon as he signed her. She couldn't get over that

If you check out the scene where he proposes to her, he seems to have done so as a challenge to Swan, and got in over his head. He didn't know how to get out of the wedding ceremony, but once in he panicked and deserted her. Being a big star he knew the studio would handle the annulment.

Yes

4. Did Swan want Daisy? (Haven't finished watching but that was a pretty passionate kiss on his part when he was telling Daisy he'd get her marriage annulled)

Yes and they continued the affair, as the wife mentions when she visits Daisy at the beach home.

She is 15 at the start of the movie but celebrates her 16th birthday by the time she starts her affairs with the Redford and Plummer characters. I'm guessing 16 might have been the legal age of consent in California in the 1930's.

6. Finally, how old was Natalie Wood IRL in this movie? Though she was small enough to play a 15 yr old, she appeared to be in her early to mid 30s.

She was born in 1938 and the movie would have been filmed in 1965. That would put her at 28.

I agree with you on that .
