Who would you cast in a remake?

No one can replace the originals, especially John Wayne, but, I think a remake could be fun:

Who would you cast in these roles?

I would love to see a remake. it would be a hard choice of who i would pick for the roles though. This is one of my fav films. Im not sure about harrison ford though to me he just dosen;t seem right for rock. i guess i would have to see him in the movie before i could desided about that one. i also don;t know about theron as dorne she just dosen;t seem to me to have that Innocents that hayworth (SP) had . but the others are pretty desent. don;t for get about eddingtons wife i think pamala anderson well not her actualy but someone with the same kind of Attitude anyway. The rest seem pretty good to me though. I think though we would have to see how well the actualy would work in the rolls i guess before we could actualy put them in for the part though. but i think it would sure be fun to see a remake of it.

I find it hard to fine anyone who could possibly replace The Duke. However, for the part of Cmdr/Capt Eddington, get Michael Douglas and let him play the part his father played.

Good effort on your part, but Hackman and Cromwell are too old to be playing combat officers. This is an error made in the original as well. I would suggest perhaps Kevin Costner as Cmdr Owynn (he could be supercilious without even trying), and Tom Selleck as the pompous Adm Broderick.

Also, I would like to see Tobey Maguire as Jere Torrey and Scarlet Johansson as Ens Dorne. Finally (that age thing again) how about Bruce Willis as a gung-ho Col Gregory? (George Kennedy never really worked for me to begin with.)

I myself never did like John Wayne, & his acting in this movie sucks, his usual ego outstands his character...

..a remake of this would be better than some WW2 movies, not sure who I'd like to see cast though.

I'd make it a spoof. I'd find the gayest crew. Paint the ships pink. Have a bulldyke running the PT boats. Lt. Sulu gets promoted to Admiral. All the Jap parts to be played by midgets with 2" thick glasses. I'd make those parts all in English with "rots of Engrish L-words". Make it a musical. Lots of dancing in those sailor outfits.
