Sped-up Audio at End

As the film ends there is sped-up audio. It's a couple of bits of dialogue between Kit and Libby. Here's what they're saying:

KIT
Hello?

LIBBY
Hi, Kit!

KIT
Don't they trust you?

LIBBY
Well, sure they do, but you know how parents are. Listen, can you come for dinner and then spend the night?

KIT
Well, I don't know about all night---my father's awfully peculiar.

LIBBY
Uh, so is mine, but I can handle him.

LIBBY
Try Kit, it'll be a lot of fun.

KIT
OK, I'll ask him. Call you right back.

Obviously the same audio of the girls from the beginning of the movie, just sped up.

The sped-up piece at the end was to obviously sound like random nattering over the phoneline.

I grabbed the audio and slowed it down also (before seeing this thread) and was hoping it would be a more sinister or secretive message. I wish I could say it would be harder to slow audio down back in the day, but who knows. Everything back then was analog, and slowing down audio was the simplest thing in the world. Still, you'd think William Castle would've left a secret message instead of just repeating (with an edit, I believe) dialogue from the beginning of the movie.
