The DVD has been out-of-print for too long.

I saw the remake a long time ago and I remember that it was quite decent. As a result of recalling that experience, I would like to see the original as well as the remake again. However, the DVD of the original has been out-of-print for a long time. Also, the remake hasn't been given any DVD treatment.

I think it's time someone (most likely, Universal, since Universal holds the rights) should re-issue the original on DVD and give the remake a DVD treatment.

What do you guys here think?

I'd LOVE to have the opportunity to buy this without paying $60 to $80 for a used copy of a DVD that isn't even in anamorphic widescreen.

If Universal would get off their lazy butts and release the three Castle films they own (I Saw What You Did, Let's Kill Uncle, and my favorite, The Night Walker) in a boxset, like Sony/Columbia did with the ones they own, I'm sure people would buy it. I know I would.

I wish they would release the original "I Saw What You Did" also. I saw it when I was young and loved it. I saw it somewhat recently (on TCM, I think) and still enjoyed it. It's a great scary movie for kids.

Twisted anger dot net has the original and the remake,if you're interested...Thanks! Gary

As I recall, the DVD was outrageously overpriced.

'Outrageously priced'??! What figure of bank would you consider a beyond Rare to locate original DVD from Anchor Bay studios by the title of "I Saw What You Did", would it have to be for you to label said scarce DVD to be outrageously priced?? Some cheap lowlifes, who still are holding onto their first nickel, consider a finski ($5) to be the right number for a Rare title like this one is. I just simply enjoy the fact that I hear quite a bit of complainers who are as tight as a ducks ass with the currency. Like whatever they say an item should be priced at is what they will only pay. Like I could, or would care a decent second what they think something is valued at. That DVD, I Saw What You Did is extremely rare, overly scarce, and to the collector, it is highly sought after, and highly valued in their eyes. Who cares what you think this DVD is going for on the open market. Try for yourself to track one down. You won't be able to locate one 'out in the wild' (Like collectors used to do, on their feet, store to Mom and Pop Video store). Do you really want to see, or own a original copy?. Then shut your cheap-ass hole in your face and pay the freight! Or don't pay the freight and do without. It's quite simple. I own thousands of OOP Rare DVDs (To the laymen out there, O-ut O-f P-rint)DVDs, and I do in fact own this one, just like the collector would like it. Brand New, factory sealed. But unlike the other ones, I just like having it for my personal collection.

If I did value the item I would put it in the $250-300 range easy. A cheapo like you should stick to your DVD buying castle, the non-union, rat infested, no benefit for the workers, slum joint known as WalsMart. Stick to that pig stye, perhaps they'll be able to order the original "I Saw What You Did" anchor bay studio produced DVD movie for you. I'm quite positive that their price will suite you just f-iiiiiiiiiine!!!

reply

For someone who purports to care about workers, you certainly have a too-rich-for-my-blood air about you. Your name says it all.

reply

Not even close friend. May I call you friend? No, I owe everything that I have to the Lord above, my all in all, The Great I AM!! I've given DVDs away to people just because I felt like doing that, without any type of cash changing hands, See money to me is just a medium of exchange. Being a DVD collector, I'd much rather have a Rare DVD movie of my one of my favourites then the cash value. Once the money is spent, it's gone goodbye. Once I get rid of or sell the particular DVD, it's gone, most likely for me to have never found/find it again. Who purports to care about 'workers', I never said I was too rich in money, I am however very rich in the Grace of the Lord. I do refuse to bow down to some creep who thinks that they are owed something, or they want something that someone else has, that they should receive that item for what they deem the price should be set at. Thank the Lord alone, that I don't need the bacon. I do enjoy listening the bitching and complaining when someone calls an item for sale, that they want so desperately, and thinly veil it, by labeling said item as 'outrageously priced', 'ridiculously overpriced', or my ultimate all time favourite comment from the common sense-less robots; "I can't believe all these price gaugers", "All these price-gaugers should be ashamed of themselves" "All these sellers are price gauging us all, this is so unfair!". I simply detest ignorant people, just because they will not use the gift of common sense, yet want to complain, and continue to wallow in total and utter defiant ignorance.

I sell on Scamazon, and I can count on one hand and have a few digits left over, whenever someone leaves a positive feedback comment. Why is this, why would this be? Because most customers are lazy scummers, it's too much of a bother to leave a feedback. So......... my response is as follows, because of the sins of the few, the many must feel the sting! My pieces will always be 'somewhat on the pricey side', just because! Plus I list the DVDs as I se they should cost the customer. All that rubbering the road business, going from video store to video shoppe, where many are closed up, now sadly defunct. I'll only do this online garbage just for a short time. Way too many 'fleas', and 'misquitos' to deal with. Too many 'burners', bootlegging videos down in their mommies basement, and the best part is this, Ready for it?! Most of you jokers, you clowns, you moronic chumps actually jump for joy whenever you receive a worthless bootleg copy of a original movie where the actual legitimate DVD is considered Rare, Scarce, and extremely Collectible. So you lowlifes are to blame for the demise of the 'Collectible DVD Hobby'. Don't bother me, I've wasted way too much valuable time on a purely ignorant individual.

reply

I don't buy bootleg DVDs (not knowingly, anyway). But $ 60 + dollars is too much. If a revival house wanted to screen it, I'd pay $10.00 to get in. It would be hard to imagine watching any film often enough to pay what they want for "I Saw What You Did?" Anyway, I still have a DVD/VHS combo and I have the tape.

I have read through number of your posts and have concluded that you are a psychopath. Not saying that you have murdered or will murder (to clarify for you) but that you are mentally unstable, eccentric, arrogant and hungry for power with a sense of entitlement and superiority.
No if's, or but's about it my friend. You are unstable and help is on the way.
We ooo we ooo we ooo - the sirens of the law are coming to your aid.

After careful research I have deduced that the sharks have limited toast making capabilities

reply

Yes, you are correct!............... To a point that is. I done thought that only entitled yuppie garbage peruse the waves o' the web. So, you've been a spying on me?! Y'all needn't have, I could of told you straighthanded just how much I despise humankind, and the moronic setup of 'Forced Ignorance' (See I made up that title, perhaps I could have it written in medical journals, the U.S. over). It's not too hard to support this 'new' hypothesis here in the sickened world of the pagan/heathen/depraved mindset that you are a part of. Meant to ask, did you come up with a New, sealed DVD of "I Saw What You Did"??! I have a Brandy New Digital Video Disc in case y'all was wondering and was concerned about me obtaining one.

I will have to disagree on a lot of them accusations, Eccentric, Umm, Imma not feeling thataone. Arrogant, not at all. Everything I have and own the Saviour above has blessed me with. I have nothing to be proud towards or 'arrogant' about. Dag I done thought y'all had me pegged, that arrogant deal is far, far off. I just detest/hate the idol worship performed on a daily towards the 'famous' by all the ignorant Sheep that have taken over. The Sheep and their master, Satan. A.K.A. The WORLD's god.

Hungry for power? Where would something like that come into the equation. You silly, silly mongoose, you! Sense of Entitlment, Hey! Didn't y'all rip that off, offs of my previous posts. Yeah, I know, and you know, that I know, that you know, that you know that I now know that you done stold that from me. Superiority? Yikes, and a Shazzam thrown in for good measure. Not even in the same UFC octagon, friend. Hey, you called me friend so, Imma supposin' that were are ..., .. Friends?

Let's see, superiority. Phillipians 1:21, "For me to live is CHRIST, and to die is gain" I am filth, always was, always will be................. Only until I gave my life over to my Saviour, the CHRIST Jesus, am I now not filthy. If I were to live alongside of you, I would indeed be extremely filthy, and ignorant, and paganistic, and worldly. Yet I am but filthy dust from the ground, and Christ has transferred HIS Truth, HIS Righteousness, HIS Glory onto me, in exchange for my sins, my filthiness, my death sentence, my evilness. So I'd have to, once again try to set you straight.

I'm kinda glad that you found me enticing enough to scour my past posts on the wickedness, and total ignorance and disregard for the LORDs ways, His Truths, and His Life. This world is a sickened mess, of depraved humanity. A fallen race of evil incarnates up walking around on two feet. This fallen society is as depraved and dirty in comparison as to my total hatred and utter contempt for it. Humankind proved one simple thing, the sick world has chose to worship the created, rather then the Creator.

Another thing is this, I never get offended. So by stating the thing about murder, you should never feel like you may or may have offended me in any way. There's no such thing in my vocabulary. I leave that sickness for the liberals at hand. It's really telling today (or yesterday) that if someone announces that they are Jewish, they immediately feel the heat from the looks from the masses. Like a favourite of the LORD should have to feel or be ashamed by announcing their history or faith or ancestry to the wicked sheep that happen to graze around nearby. Yet, if anyone should announce their German background, there is nary a puzzled, or shocked look, or definitely no whispers and closed chatter to be seen

One has a HISTORY of a beloved people of GOD, and the other has a history of pure, unadulterated Evil, depravity, murder, torture, crime, occult worship, and total wickedness. Now, and forever, One will always be hated and blessed, while the other will always receive a 'guest pass' by the sheep, their young, and their young, and their young. This world inhabited by the ignorant masses is a cesspool of sin, of sickness, of hypocrisy, of money worshippers, of secular humanist heathens that will feel HIS mighty wrath in due time!

So help is on its way, what type of help is we talking bout'? This world is diseased, toxic, decrepit, and vile. I don't need what this society offers up. It upsets my stomach, it goes down real nice and smooth, like a nice Johnny Walker Blue shot o'Scotch, (Don't ask me how I know this, because I don't drink now, or ever for that matter)but soon enough, the gut starts hurting real bad like, and soon after,Upchucks the hooch, all over your date! Does that sound like a nice, first date to you?!

I have seen what the world is and what is has to offer, and I'll have to see all the major league total destruction from on high, the 3rd Heaven. Revelation Chapter 4, "Come up hither, and see all the things that are to take place" The Lord is on HIS way, in very, very short time. Maybe all the Secular Humanist garbage that chose to worship 'mother nature', and thought and stood by the murder of 35 million , because, "Hey, every woman has a right to her body", or "Hey, let's not offend anybody this Christmas season, so no more Merry hristmas will be said to the customers, instead a Happy Holidays is what will be said", or "Don't dare let me hear that you lead of prayer in your classroom today, haven't we taught you better than that"?!

Behold, I come quickly, Even so LORD come soon! M-A-R-A-N-A-T-H-A !!!

A few reviews are now up for the new Blu-ray disc. I have pre-ordered, but not received my copy yet, However, a few reviewers have mentioned what sounds like extensive scratches at the beginning of the film. If this is the case, it sounds like a downgrade from the 1999 Anchor Bay release, which, though not anamorphic, had an unblemished, crystal clear presentation from beginning to end. I'm hoping the early reviews are exaggerating any flaws. Still, I'm not giving up the previous disc. I do think the new ''Scream Factory'' packaging is a HUGE improvement I have the 14x36 insert they used for the cover art framed and on my bedroom wall.

reply

I'm sure that most of the Blu-ray will look fine. Perhaps they just used an old logo for the Universal title card?

reply

No, I think they're also talking about the whole pre-credits sequence. But, today, there are a couple of new reviews which state it looks ''amazing''. Who knows what type of set-up each reviewer is watching it on. Universal did a brief featurette on their ''To Kill A Mockingbird'' Blu-ray, about the films in their library they were in the process of restoring. I can only assume that, since they have twice farmed this one out to independent companies for release, this is not one of the films they consider worthy of restoration. (That still doesn't explain why the seemingly superior ''Anchor Bay'' print wasn't used). Guess I'll find out for myself tomorrow. I still prefer the art for this release, though. It's great!. UPDATE-MAY 18: I finally got a chance to watch the new Blu-Ray. It's better than some reviewers have written, (though it falls short of ''Amazing'')and the soundtrack is solid. Interesting that, though the trailers are the same flawless copies used for the 1999 Anchor Bay DVD, the print quality here (enhanced widescreen Blu-Ray) s a bit below Anchor Bay's previous release. Still, from the various reviews I read-each one with a different opinion, I expected MUCH worse. I have finally learned not to anticipate disaster prematurely. Better to wait and judge the results yourself.
