What happened to the colorized version?

Such a great movie!

The first time I saw it was in the early 90s on German Television (RTL). It was the night movie. At this time without any commercial breaks. The movie was colorized. I even recorded it on VHS.

What happened to the colorized version? Is it available on DVD?
