can't make up my mind about this film.

I am sure I saw this on tv years ago but remember nothing about it.

I bought a dvd boxed set of 1960s British films partly because this film was in it.

I can't make up my mind about this film,I like Bogarde but felt he was not trying to hard in this film,I don't blame him.
I found the American women character annoying and unconvincing,the nationalist fighters and the British army were equally unconvincing to me.

But it is good that the film was ever made I suppose but it did not tell me much about the actual events.

I've always liked this film. I don't think it's particularly good but I like the cast, especially the Denholm Elliot character and Susan Strasbourg is very beautiful. Historically it's probably reasonable, there was a long nasty war as some Cypriots fought for thier independence but I always find it ironic that there are still major British bases on the island.
