having a mild weekend

what sort of pop star is dave clark?

he doesn't smile. he doesn't particularly like girls. he doesn't smoke, drink, carry pot or even heroin! attractive older women scare him a bit. he does like to look at himself in the mirror. and he does like to go skin diving. in london. in winter.

the rest of the band seems pretty spunky, but they don't get to do anything as individuals and it's hard to hear what they're saying most of the time.

what an odd little movie this is. it seems to be a weird hybrid halfway between a hard days' night (which came before) and help! (which came after).

i laughed a few times, though i'm not sure that all of those situations were meant to be funny.

i do wish they'd had more than the three or so dc5 tunes they managed to work in (repeatedly).

Yeah, very tepid and moronic flick but that's what you got for teen oriented pop movies at the time. Thanks for the heads up on them only doing 3 songs. I'll fast forward and check out the "birds". But alas I agree that it's more of Beach Blanket Bingo without the bikinis and color film, and not Rebel Without a Cause or the Wild Ones.

apparently they do more than three songs, but the others are hidden well and/or instrumental remakes. i don't expect high art from a vehicle like this, but i do expect more than five minutes of rocking dc5 music!
