One for car spotters

Liked this film - a genuine oddity. Although a bit uneven and confused, it had some great locales, images, cutting, and music.

I also couldn't help but notice all the vintage and unusual vehicles: the Minis and Austins, Jag, police motorbikes, the crazy low-slung jeep, and best of all, the elevated tractor for high tide transportation to the island. (I guess the horses count as transportation too!)

Wonder if 'Catch us if you can' has any cult following among car spotters?

I doubt it has many followers, at least here in the US, it probably doesn't get seen often enough. But I was also amused with the population of Minis (original ones being so admired here now). In the opening scene they litter the streets like Camrys and Accords do these days. And all the Morris' and Austin Americas (or whatever they called them in Britan).

I may spend a little time researching to see if this is on the Internet Movie Car Database (IMCDb).

The older couple from Bath were driving a Daimler .... and the police were in a Ford Zephyr Zodiac ... classic!

I love the original Mini and being American, they are much more rare than in Europe. If anyone has ever owned one, feel free to comment on your general experience. Reliable, constantly breaking down, fun to drive or not? Thx

Hi Fuh - I bought a Mini Moke new in 1971 when they were the absolute Thing To Have. The popularity increased so much that when I sold it 18 months later I got more than the New Purchase price. In 1997 I found a wreck and made it roadworthy and had tons of fun roaring around, no roll bar, no canopy, just lap sash seatbelts. Sold that to an enthusiast too.
I landed here because the Dave Clark movie is on FTA TV right now and I was curious it is such a good film, unusual for 'pop' exploitation. cheers from AUS

I love these cars and you were so fortunate to have owned one. I was 16 then and in southern America (NC), so I saw few Minis on the road. Mostly in European TV shows/films like The Saint, Italian Job, and of course, the Beatles connection. I love the small, boxy look and having at least sat in the driver's seat of a parked one before, I was comfortable at 6'1". The Mini really made me a lifelong fan of microcars in general. I'm also a big fan of the DC5 and agree that this film had a somewhat serious tone at times, certainly nothing like Hard Days Night, the Hermits film, or the like. Thanks for your comments, Ray.

I love the colors & cool weather of fall; pumpkins, Halloween, s**t like that.

I saw this flick when it first came out here in the 'states'. At 14 years old, I though the 'bands' vehicle was a LandRover model that I wasn't familiar with, like the vehicle used by the mimes in the later 'adult' flick, Blow-Up. Anyway, I recently did some Googling and learned about the Moke. Oh, so that's what it is. Try getting a vehicle like that through safety red tape these days. Good luck.
