..only recommended if you are a diehard Elvis fan...

...which I am...and I actually liked all of his movies, but I do prefer his early, but more serious turns though, like King Creole, Jailhouse Rock, and Wild in the Country...but most of the 60's simple musical comedies were enjoyable too...the earlier ones were better, like Blue Hawaii, Girls, Girls, Girls, Fun in Acapulco, and Viva Las Vegas, before they got cheaper and sillier, and mostly shot on studio backlots with few scenes on location...I think it's probably subjective whether you prefer Girl Happy, Spinout or Clambake, etc, etc...but of all of those, and I'd say even as a fan, "Harum Scarum" was probably the silliest and without most of the charm and fun songs that made the others more entertaining...basically anything after 1965 fell into this category..

..I really thought we might see a different Elvis after his '68 TV Comeback special...it was a simple and fun accoustic jam with just a few old friends/musicians on small center stage...then a more serious film, but a weak story..Elvis acting was fine, but "Charro" was too little, too late, and then "Change of Habit" was a mistake...it just didn't work...I believe the worse decision he made in his later career was letting the Colonel turn down the male lead role for him in "A Star is Born" with Barbara Streisand, and that ended up going to Kris Kristofferson...who knows, but that could have opened up a whole new set of opportunities for the serious film career that he always wanted...instead, because the greed of the Colonel, he went to Vegas with his sequined jumpsuits, and stayed, where he died miserable a few years later at the young age of 42.....

...anyway,for most of us, the nostalgia of watching an old Elvis film like this, even one that's not one of his better ones, is still fun and worth the watch...
