My Favorite Elvis Movie!!!

This is easily the best Elvis movie. Elvis looked his best here and he had his best supporting cast. The songs are the best from any of movies. Only Blue Hawaii had songs that were just as good. The supporting cast had the most beautiful woman of the 1960's in Shelley Fabares. She looked her hottest here and had a very nice body that was showcased in swimsuits, and hot pants with a Gold top tied at her bust. They had great chemistry with each other. The three guys in his group were Jimmy Hawkins(Donna Reed & Spinout), Joby Baker(Disney movies & Alfred Htichcock & Combat) and Gary Crosby(Adam-12 & Emergency & Hunter). They have all been in other movies and shows that I liked, and are an excellent trio that had great chemistry with Elvis. The guy named BVD was also great. I remember him from My Three Sons. Mary Ann Mobley is also a sweetie. Plus we get John Fiedler(Star Trek & the voice of Piglet) as the hotel manager. I almost forgot Harold J. Stone(Twilight Zone). He does a solid job as the tough guy dad of Shelley Fabares. He is tough and funny. The most important thing is that this movie is fun and it makes me feel great every time I see it. Along with Heather Locklear, there is not a hotter and sweet at the same time, woman than Shelley Fabares. She puts this movie in the all time greats.

Mine too....U R right its fun to watch. You just knew they were all having a great time. Great supporting cast. Jimmy Hawkins was at his best. Long way since Tommy Bailey in IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE and TAGG on ANNIE OAKLEY. He really grew from kid actor to adult. Shelley was HOT. Loved her in Donna Reed too. She and Jimmy were great together in that show. I agree you can't forget Harold J. Stone. John Fielder was very funny. Thats what makes a film entertaining. The supporting cast and actors who bring something special to a role. Not someone just reading lines. They don't do that anymore. They're paying the lead so much there doesn't seem to be enough to bring characters in to play other roles. Everyone was tops.
When a movie works.... It works.
But I think Elvis' best dramatic film was KING CREOLE.

Elvis's best movies were made before he went in the army. But of all the ones made afterwards this is my favorite too. I liked the supporting cast, and Shelley Fabares was absolutely gorgeous.

I agree. I never get tired of watching this movie. I saw it numerous times as a kid on the CBS late movie in the 70's. It has catchy songs, a fun storyline, and a wonderful supporting cast.

I am glad to see a lot of Girl Happy fans here. I did watch King Creole a while back and Elvis did do a good job in that film. I just happen to love him in a comedic role. I also am glad to see that I am not the only one that thought Shelley Fabares was a total babe. She had the most beautiful face and her body was 2nd to none between 1963 to 1966. She really looked nice in a bikini! I am glad to see someone back then saw her body and showcased it!

SOmeone commented that his best movies were before the army and I agree with that. I also agree this is one of the best of his after army films. THe before and after are in an entire different genre. THe best film and also best soundtrack is Jailhouse ROck. He has so many great sounds in that movie, like the title track, Treat me Nice and Young & Beautiful.

But this and Blue Hawaii I agree have good soundtracks and are great movies. I too love Shelley Fabares and love the two of them together. Of their 3 movies together I like them in GIrl Happy the best. She was a brat in SPinout and SHe was a money grubber looking for a rich man in Clambake. IN this one she is a lot sweeter and down to earth.

I agree with the above post, but I love Shelley no matter what part she is playing. She is just gorgeous and I love her way of speaking, it's so darn sexy.

So cool to read that. I really like her a lot too. I saw a wonderful interview with her and her husband Mike Farrell and she said some wonderful things about Elvis. I have watched her on Donna Reed and sometimes on there her character got annoying but loved her in the movies.

This has long been my favorite of Elvis' movies also. Shelley is what makes this film special.

At the end of the film, she is dancing with the King onstage to the Girl Happy theme song, she tosses her head playfully to get her hair out of her face just before they kiss. Incredibly cute and sexy! And what a beautful smile! I could watch this film over and over just for that one scene.

I'm with you on that one.

This has always been my favorite Elvis movie too! I loved this as a kid growing up in the 60s and 70s. I always wanted to look like Shelly Fabares in this movie. And I want to mention one thing no one else has said. As a kid, I LOVED the hotel they're staying at. It just looked so cool to me back then. I loved the island in the swimming pool. I wanted to be able to go stay at that hotel. Now when I watch the movie I can appreciate just how fun and upbeat it is.
