Male boarder at Mrs. Miller's house

I came to IMDB to see if i could find the spelling for the name of this man
in the movie cause me and my brothers thought it was a really funny name. But it seems IMDB doesnt even know. BeforeLuther (Don Knotts) goes to the Simmons' house, he is in a chair at the boarding house, and one of the ladies comes to tell him, MR.DELLAGONDO has gone to fetch his flashlight for you, and momentarily MR.DELLAGONDO enters and hands him light and shakes his hand and hes off to the house. So his name is MR.DELLAGONDO, i dont know if that would be the correct spelling, but im a good speller, and thats how i think it should be spelled, if you dont think so, you can go up an alley and holler FISH !!!, or leave you own thought of how it might be spelled :)

If you go to the "full cast and crew" section, you'll see that he's listed.

Anyone notice that he never speaks a single word throughout the entire movie? Mostly he's just at the table eating or in the background!

reply

Burt Mustin was also in episodes of All In the Family.

I remember. "Rest in Pizza" and his wallet of stiffs! (To quote Archie.)

The incredible BURT MUSTIN is right up there with the biggies, like Edward Andrews and Whit Bissell, in being one of the great reliables as far as character actors are concerned. He was a supernumerary in 'Chicken', but other parts at Universal allowed him to use his cackly voice to great effect. Hats off to the producers who recognized him as a perfect harmless old codger. Go, Burt, GO!

Your spelling is probably correct, but there is no way of knowing without looking at the script for the movie. Mr. Dellagondo was played by veteran actor Burt Mustin, a familiar face in many movies of that era.

Burt Mustin should have a fan club.

Can I borrow your towel? My car just hit a water buffalo.

Burt Mustin also appeared as Gus the fireman on Leave It To Beaver and on several episodes of the Andy Griffith Show.

reply

yes I remember that, he looked like a typical 1950's checker playing fireman.

I am only here because they blocked my MySpace at work. Asses.

He also has a suporting role in the Don Knotts movie "The Reluctant Astronaut".

Just watched one of his ''Dragnet'' (1968) episodes. He plays a cat burglar. He's also seen, (unbilled) in ''Snow White And The Three Stooges''. Great character actor.

reply

He started his career at age 67! That's amazing. He's a scene stealer. Like so many here I remember him from 'Leave It to Beaver' also.

Mustin was a popular guest on The Tonight Show back when Johnny Carson was hosting. They referred to him as one of their favorite octogenarians, IIRC.

He was also in an episode of the Brady Bunch where Bobby was enamored with Jesse James and Burt Munsten was the guy whose father was shot and killed by Jesse James.
