Great Film !

I've just seen the new Dark Sky DVD of this film and I thought it was great. I have to say though, I haven't seen so much stock footage outside of an Ed Wood opus.
I loved the way James Karen tootled up on his little moped to the Army guys and Oderus Urungus' Dad as 'Mull the Space Monster' looked surprisingly good, as did 'Frank' (for the time and budget, of course) but I did notice the inner workings of a wrist watch slap-bang in the middle of Frank's robot head. Perhaps he had a Quartz movement.
'Nadir's' cheeky 'breaking the fourth wall' had me in stitches, as did his 'evil laugh'. Evil people in films must be very happy, as they spend a lot of their time laughing.
It has the reputation as one of the worst films ever made. It is not. I found it very entertaining. There is no such thing as a 'bad' film...just boring ones. People often site 'Plan 9' as the worst film ever made, but once again it's very entertaining, humerous and even engaging. However it's 'sequel'-'Night of the Ghouls' IS a bad film as it manages to be completely boring and had none of the charm or interest of it's predecessor.
I recommend this movie, but don't expect 'Citizen Kane'...but there again don't expect 'Night of the Ghouls' either.

That was actually an old AM radio stuck in Frank's cranium. You can see the station frequencies in crude printing on the tuner dial. That totally cracked me up. Very handy for listening to crap top-40 radio at any time.

You may not be interested in war, but war is interested in you.

To me...that fact just makes the film better.

Agreed. This film was a lot of schlocky fun. I especially dug the inappropriate groovy reverb surf guitar music that ocassionally blasts away on the soundtrack.

I'm a totally bitchin' bio writer from Mars!

Bizarrely enough Woody, I watched 'The Gore Gore Girls' last night and it too had a sub-Beach Boys instrumental playing on a constant loop...which was VERY inappropriate!
