One scene that really stood out to me...

When Frank emerges from the downed craft, and he becomes horribly scarred. When he is walking around the wastelands, the sound of air blowing hard, and Frank slumping about in a daze... really sends a message of nuclear war to me. He is a 'lone' survivor but terribly maimed. He is essentially 'defective'. He wanders aimlessly around a rubble like surface, not knowing where he is going.

It really resonated with me, as I have done a lot of research on the actions of the victims immediately following the atomic bomb drop on Hiroshima.
