Any connection to the Marvel Comics character

Haven't seen this movie but is this any connection or more likely inspiration for the Marvel character.

doesn't look like it.great character,though.you a foolkiller fan?

reply

Yeah, I'm a big Marvel Foolkiller fan. Somehow, just from the description, I wouldnn't be surprised if Steve Gerber (R.I.P) had seen this movie and drew some inspiration from it.

steve gerber is dead?!

...Yeah, Josh, he recently succumbed to a lengthy illness. He was still working at the time of his passing.

One of the most provocative comic book writers of the day, with his early body of work at Marvel Comics. I bought and read all of his Man-Thing books. Of course, he also created Howard the Duck, which got tragically butchered in a movie treatment of the character.

Steve Gerber will be missed...

I hope they do something for Steve Gerber like they did for Mark Gruenwald. From interviews, I got the feeling that Gerber was most proud of the Foolkiller limited series. They should have/could have released that via trade paperback a long time ago while he was alive. I'm sure it would have included a foreword by him explaining how the Foolkiller character came about. Now we'll never know. Well, chalk it up to Marvel to waste an opportunity. Though Marvel couldn't care less, S.G will be sorely missed by his readers and fans.
