Rose McGowan as Varla in possible remake?

I just saw a photo (URL below), and thought to myself, "Holy crap! Rose McGowan is starting to look a lot like Tura Satana!" LOL

Anyway, I got the idea that if they ever did a remake of FPKK, Rose McGowan would be great as Varla. What do you guys think about ol' Rosie Mac as Varla? Also, whom would you cast in the other roles?

reply

Bad idea. You need someone with a body to play Varla. Which you won't find in Hollywood anymore. Maybe Scarlett Johansson but most likely you'll need a foreign woman in order to find someone with a body like that. Too many actresses are doing the starving look these days.

reply

I agree about the starving thing, but I still think she could "fill-out" enough to play the part. ;)

now it's clicky:

No remake please, and Rose McGowan doesn't have the boobs for it.

Only Salma Hayak could play Varla!!!! Love to see a remake with her in it!

"Dream much, Will?"

reply

Salma Hayak is a sweet lady, and no offense, but I wouldn't want her to play Varla. She's not the Varla type.

Not only that, I wouldn't be able to understand her dialogue that well. She has a very thick accent. At least, she did the last time I saw her in a movie.

Are you sure you're talking about the same person I'm talking about?

I don't remember Tura Satana having any kind of thick accent in that movie. Not any non-English accent, that's for sure.

reply

Wasn't she the one who kept 'a-talking a-like a-this' in order to sound Italian?

Update - Woops! Nope. Varla's the one with the killer chop.

Rose would kick ass in that role! Her, a pre-children Angelina Joie and maybe Christina Ricci....if she were taller.

reply

I wouldn't want a remake, but if they did one...

reply

You know what? Christina Ricci would be great as Varla, too!

She's tough and scary, and she's got the goods, if you know what I mean. LOL! I don't know how tall she is, but I could see her as Varla, too. Great idea!

Ok, so if we have Rose McGowan/Christina Ricci as Varla, who should we have as the blonde chick and the Italian chick (sorry, don't remember their characters' names)?

Jennifer Tilly. She has the attitude, figure, and look.

Jennifer Tilly? She has the chest but not much of anything else. She has attitude but she'd never make a convincing Varla. Both she and Rosie Perez aren't the right age for it.

A lot of these choices are so obvious. Rose McGowan? Scarlett Johansen? Christina Ricci? You don't remake a Russ Meyer film with A-list actresses.

if only rose mcgowan had bigger boobs she could fit the part.

Great question, great thread.

How about Rosie Perez. I'm thinking specifically about her role in Perdita Durango here.

reply

Quentin is thinking about casting Tera Patrick for it. Anyway, I'd cast myself in any role. I'd be great as Varla or as the blonde one, Billie :D

Quentin Tarrantino is not the brilliant auteur that he purports himself to be. None of the many women suggested for the various roles, and especially for Varla, could even shine the shoes of the originals.

It saddens me that a man, such as Tarrantino, who is supposedly one of hollywood's best and brightest and most creative can only find old properties to recycle and re-make. And Faster Pussycat! Kill! Kill! is not such a strong story as to be remade, like Hamlet, or Pygmalion. What makes FPKK is it's unique production qualities, the actors and that it is a product of its own time. Why should we care that Quentin Tarrantino wants to ape someone else's work which was already successful?

I'm sorry, none of these women that have been suggested could come close to carrying off the part. Tarrantino is not so great, just because he likes a cool movie and wants to "do it too" doesn't mean that it's a good idea or that it will be successful. I'm beginning to think that his so-called talent is merely an eye for ripping off other genres and other people's work.

And no, none of the women working today are stacked like the original cast, especially Tura Satana. Tara Patrick has implants.

I was thinking that during the entire film!! Especially with her being in the Grindhouse movies, i think she'd be fantastic

Do guys like "the thing"?
They like it better than no thing.

You would think that, but you would be wrong.
