I so wanted to like this movie, and it starts out cute. But try as I might to bring out the kid in me to enjoy it, it was really just unwatchable. The jokes, mannerisms, schtick, all to forced, obvious and unfunny. I could give some example scenes, but they are too numerous and on the other hand , I don't remember any that did work.
Sorry, Jerry and fandom, this effort was very, very weak.
Best parts: the great supporting cast and the colors in the print, the 60's look.

The sailor flashback "diffusing the torpedo", and the plane sequence are funny..everything else pretty well sucks.

I think you either like Jerry Lewis or you don't. Certain bits, faces he makes toward the camera and other things just seem timeless to me. Having said that, much of the stuff in this movie is just pulled from earlier movies - or maybe is used later in his other movies. It's not easy to enjoy the exact same bits in different movies. I think this is one of his lesser ones. Whenever I watch "The Ladies Man" I cannot stop laughing hysterically when he's being fed his oatmeal breakfast on a high chair.
sharei'd rather do my own dental surgery than have to sit through 5 minutes of a jerry lewis movie. that doesn't mean i don't know comedy when i see it. i find him boorish and pedantic; that's my opinion. but i don't question the intelligence of others just because they do find him funny.
