This is probably one of the two best Fu Manchu films ever made. (Along with Boris Karloff in MGM's MASK OF FU MANCHU, although the serial DRUMS OF FU MANCHU is pretty good, too.) While this series deteriorated rapidly (there were 5 in all), with the last two films having been given the deluxe DVD treatment by Blue Underground, it would be nice to see FACE OF FU MANCHU (easily the best of the bunch) given its due.
sharewell, the last two were by Jesus Franco, and were released to his fan base. but the first 3 were also worthy. the restoration on "Blood of Fu Manchu", and especially "Castle Of Fu Manchu" is quite good, restoring a shine unseen in decades. cheesy, but fun.
shareI'm still waiting to see Boris Karloff as Fu Manchu. I think that he makes a good oriental in the Mr Wong series.
I would say that this movie is the best of the Christopher Lee Fu Manchu series. I've got it on a Monument release DVD.
As the other thread says, this is available in a MOD edition DVD.
