Tallulah's best performance caught on film...

Sure, it's one of those grande dame guignol pictures from the '60s, and basically a B-movie, but it's probably Bankhead's best screen performance (with Hitchcock's LIFEBOAT her best film).

Too bad she didn't do more motion pictures.

Yeah, it was just remarkable - very surprised at the outstanding performance she put in on this one, and I saw Lifeboat, too, where she kept herself under control.

I've got her biography around here somewhere, and I think I'll pull it out and find out more about her and why she didn't do more film - her choice? Her diva reputation?

Most of her stage roles were taken by Bette Davis when they made the film versions.

Actors who did most of their work is one of the greatest losses for us who like to study people like Tallulah Bankhead. They left scant supply with which we can study them by. No doubt she liked the thrill of performing live rather than film-making. All we can do is savour the few crumbs we are left with.

I find nothing wrong with the grande dame guignol genre or B movies. I'm glad she done this movie and her camp performance in Batman. She is fun to watch.
