Sorry, I can't answer your question because I missed this one when it was on the other day. But, I absolutely love any films or pictures with the Greystone Mansion. They used to conduct tours of that fabulous old estate, hopefully they still do. Have you any idea?

What was I thinking....I live in LA...must check to see if they still do the tours. I think if not the interior, the exterior shots are Greystone.

Yes, that was the Greystone mansion. It is obvious in the scene near the end when Diane Baker tears away from the place in her car, and Joan runs after her. Funny that both Crawford and Bette Davis filmed there around the same time. It is Bette's home in Dead Ringer.

Thanks for the confirmation. I've watched Dead Ringer at least a dozen times; because it's one of my favorites, and so I can see the Greystone Manor as well. Thanks for pointing out about both BD and JC filming there. I know they were in stark competition with each other. I wonder if because BD had filmed DR there....was filming at the Manor partial motivation for JC to do the film Della? I might stretching it a bit....but an interesting observation nevertheless.

The Greystone Manor is a beautiful and mysterious estate, and such an interesting part of the Los Angeles celebrity scandals of the past.

As for tours of Greystone Mansion, it appears they do offer very limited ones, apparently on the first Saturday of the month. Check out their website:
https://www.beverlyhills.org/exploring/greystoneparkmansion/ and click on "Private Ranger Tour" in the left menu. However, the exterior grounds are open daily to the public for free.

Thanks for the info....definitely going to see if I can catch one of the
tours. I like stepping back in time in old Hollywood!

i'm not familar with what "GREYSTONE" might be (or was/is) except it sounds like a "TARZAN" film title :) having said that, did anyone else notice that this "FOUR STAR" production has the same interior grand sweeping staircase used in Barbara Stanwyk's "FOUR STAR" western series "THE BIG VALLEY" mansion set :)

Greystone Manor...AKA...the Doheny Estate was built by Edward L. Doheny, Sr., oil tycoon, around 1928 in Beverly Hills, Ca., as a gift for his son, Edward (Ned), Jr. Tragically, a few months after Ned, his wife and 5 children moved into the new mansion; Ned was killed in a murder/suicide with his male secretary. There is still great mystery as to what transpired before and what prompted the killings. Google it, try Wikipedia, and it's also included in scandal/murder books about historical Hollywood.

The mansion, as myself and previous poster was discussing, has been used in several films, and it's always exciting to see if you can recognize it when you see movies such as Della, etc., that uses this beautiful estate for location shots.

If you like old architecture, and of course old Hollywood; reading about the Greystone/Doheny Estate will be interesting.
