Breakfast at Tiffiny's similarities

Just wondering why there's no post, mentioning the blatant similarities between Darling (1965) and Breakfast (1961)....namely, the characters of Diana and Holly, the shoplifting scene, and the character played by actor José Luis de Villalonga. Thoughts, anyone.....?!?

Yep. I was thinking that too. Also the horrendous treatment of the Goldfish was somewhat reminiscent of the way Holly Golightly treated her cat.

reply

You're not rare. The comparison is obvious.

"Darling" September 1965 (UK) based on an IDEA by Frederic Raphael, John Schlesinger, and producer Joseph Janni ("Hey, guys, I just saw this low-budget flick about a girl craving fame & willing to sell herself to the world to get it. It was a nice little movie, but nobody was in the audience, so nobody will cry plagiarism when we do it better. Here's how . . . .").
