is this movie a female version of 'room at the top'?

this movie makes me think of a female version of "room at the top." i would love to see others here discuss the similarities between "darling" and "room at the top."

I see what you mean. The main characters in both films get what they want but don't want it. Laurence Harvey's character actually experienced love butI'm not sure that Julie Christie's character did.

"Bitter Harvest", released two years earlier, is a more direct ancestor of "Darling".
