Is it just me, or does anyone else have no problem at all accepting Godzila and friends...but a 100ft jet-powered, fire-breathing turtle ?
...and what was up with Baragon and that 'rainbow ray' that came out of his back ? Was that the most unfeasable weapon EVER ?

I don't mind the rubber-suit,being a giant or being a monster. It's just the turtle. I may have been touched by one in the 'bathing-suit area' as a child.

More mythological, actually. But also more realistic in that the effects are some of the best that any of the kaiju films have to offer. The effects may seem tame in the first but by the third you'll believe every frame of it.

I don't feel like it really makes a difference... The way the effect looks in the Heisei trilogy is fantastic and I never really think much about it. If you have so much trouble with it then don't bother!

I saw the trailer for the restored original 'Gamera' and it looked really nice, the photography was as good as any 'Zilla. It always looked cheap before because I always saw it from a crappy grainy copy but it's got some good production values.
And of course the ultimate compliment is that MST3K devoted a whole boxset to titular turtle!

The mythology regarding Gamera is that it was created on the island of Atlantis as a project in biological weaponry. There were numerous prototype Gameras as evidenced by the empty shells found in one of the movies. This mythology changed in the 1990's though. Besides a rocket powered turtle is no more difficult to believe than a Tyrannosaurus Rex breathing plasma fire and both are really cool.
Based on Gamera the Brave (2006) it appears that Gamera is a female although Gamera-Toto may be a male. You have to watch the movies to understand.
