WHO was that fascinating female singer?

I saw the film for the first time today and wondered who the great female singer was at the start of the film who is so spectacular that she incites the riot. It doesn't say in the IMDb credits and I wish I knew so I could either see more filmed performances of hers or find her music. Thanks for any assistance you can give! =)
