Ann-Margret vs Tuesday Weld

Regardless of which characters they actually played in the film, whom do you prefer? As for acting I believe Ann-Margret was a little better than Weld. And lookswise it was not much of contest IMO. Ann is unbelievably beautiful and sexy at the same time, while I find Tuesday to be just pretty. What did you think?
And, as a little dirty question: who'd win a catfight between them? Again, my money'd be on Ann. I'd love to hear your opinions!

reply

Ann-Margaret for mistress, Tuesday Weld for wife.

...that sums it all up!! ;-)

Tuesday Weld would never hold a candle to Ann Margaret. Not even if she got implants.

reply

Ann-Margret hands down

Ann Margret wins in the changing under a Big Sweater Catagory... but that was a Different Film. Ann Margret in this film too but I do agree with is choice in the End would rather be with Tuesday Weld at least she wasn't a Tramp who would cheat on me the first chance she got.

LOL, Joekid! I think it's kind of like a Ginger vs Mary Ann thing.

reply

Yes, I would marry Tuesday Weld.

Early on (As this movie) I give it a draw--Both in talent and looks--Ann Margret got better looking as she matured, and her acting talents did likewise.

Tuesday on the other hand has sat to close to the Buffett Table, and never progressed beyond bimbo roles. Once Upon A Time in America being the exception

I'd rather go hunting with Dick Cheney, than driving with Ted Kennedy

Tuesday Weld was good looking in her day, but did any of you see 'Falling Down'. El blimpo grande. Ann Margeret is still gorgeous, and has to be sneaking up on 70. Ann Margeret is, IMO, one of the all-time great beauties.

reply

Tuesday Weld gained weight for her role in "Falling Down". If you look at her last two film appearances - "Chelsea Walls" (2001) and "Investigating Sex" (2002), she looked very good in those films.

reply

both are great in this.

Elvis shoulda married Ann-Margret.
Anyway, their real...and their fantastic.
I totally agree with Melba as the mistress. Coming home to Christain ain't so bad though.

All of you guys hating on Tuesday Weld in this movie are insane. Evidently you can't tell the difference between the one you want to *beep* and the one who's the better actress. Tuesday Weld is one of the great undervalued actresses in Hollywood films, and you can see it here--she's so good and so subtle about it, it doesn't shout out, "I'm acting!" Ann Margret, meanwhile, has a role that amounts to little more than saying *beep* me" under her breath the whole movie.

Which isn't her fault, but still. Tuesday Weld, by a mile.

reply

I agree with ironhills. Ann-Margret looked great, but any actress could have played that role, it was the weakest in the film. Weld was the much better actress.

What made Weld's acting in the film so special? Both female roles were actually rather unneccessary story-wise. Neither actress was able to show her acting best. I've seen Weld in 'Thief' in which she was very good. But comparing that to Margret's performances in films like Carnal Knowledge, Joseph Andrews or Tommy I'd still say Weld's not as good as her.

reply

^^^^This. Ann Margret is rather average-cute. tuesday is pretty attractive. Ann needed to try to be sexy to be sexy, whereas Tuesday was sexy BECAUSE SHE DIDN'T TRY TO BE. Exactly why women like Audrey Hepburn or Grace Kelly will always, always be more attractive/sexier than women like Marilyn Monroe or Liz Taylor (although of course all women are beautiful... but that's different from subjective attractiveness/sexiness).

Classy = sexy. Trying to be sexy = not sexy.

Ann is an overrated actor anyway. Plus redheads are overrated, and I admit blondes are probably my favourite hair color besides light brown.

as you said, Ann is obvious, whereas Tuesday is subtle. that's why she is better in both ways.

Tuesday Weld actually had the more "serious" reputation around this time, even though she started in "Dobie Gillis," and didn't start landing the serious roles til "Pretty Poison" and "Play It as It Lays." She was, I think, one of the choices for Bonnie in Bonnie and Clyde before Faye Dunaway. Weld was reportedly very troubled (early "Stage Mother" problems) and faded in and out of her film career.

Ann-Margret during this time, however, was VA-VA-VOOM. And would win a fight with Weld. And maybe with McQueen. Trained dancer. Athlete.

uhmmm Joan Blondell anybody?

Joan Blondell ? what are you ? 90 yrs old ?

I agree to disagree with all of you lot. I think Ann Margaret is beautiful. Very very pretty.

But Tuesday Weld - no one beats her. Well while we're comparing them atleast. Tuesday has been a big crush for a million years now. And same goes for Grace Kelly... love her too.

reply

Joan Blondell was hot when she was young in the early 30's, can't deny that.

I prefer Tusday Weld over Ann Margaret in most films but in this film Ann Margaret-s character was much more interesting and sexy.

The way I see it, is that we weren't retreating, we were just attacking in a new direction.

No, and if not on top of 'the list' back then, she was close to it. Glad she was brought up, shes gone but not forgotten. Anyway....Other than "Here Come The Bride" re-runs, this film is the only example I have seen of her later work.

Oh, hell yeah! Ann all the way. Holy crap, she is walking sex. Tuesday's just a pretty blonde. Wouldn't kick her out of bed for eating crackers, but no comparison to Ann.

I asked the doctor to take your picture so I can look at you from inside as well.

Ann, all the way. And I mean ALL the way ;)

reply

If I can't have both then I would pick Tuesday Weld. She is also a somewhat better actress in my opinion.

reply

Ann-Margaret she is ridiculously sexy in this movie.
