Okay, I'll take your word for it. And, let me just add that, according to the Inflationary Calculator available online, $30,000 for most of the 1930's (The decade that the film is set) had the same amount of purchasing power as $500,000 does today, after adjusting for inflation.

Meaning, that it would take the equivalent of $500,000 today to be able to purchase all the goods and services that you could afford to buy with just $30,000 in the 1930's.

Also, $30,000 for most of the 1930's, had the same amount of purchasing power as $70,000 did in 1965.(when the movie was originally released)

And, finally.... $30,000 in 1965, had the same amount of purchasing power as $227,420 does in 2016. Once again, it would take the equivalent of $227,420 today to be able to purchase all the goods and services that you could afford to buy with just $30,000 in 1965. Interesting stuff, huh?
