Rock song in the movie

I haven't seen the movie in years but will try to describe the scene to the best of my recollection: The main character is in an asylum or something and he says "I think I'd like to dance now" this segues to a surfy mid-60s rocker with "ooo-eee-oooo" background vocals that sound exactly like the vocals in the song "Oh Oh I Love Her So" that The Ramones put out 12 years later. Anybody know the song or the artist?
