There is no indication in the movie that Reginald Denny's Sir Harry Percival has a wife or a mistress. He's attracted to Cat (who is pretending to be a prostitute) as is almost every other male in the movie. My guess is that he's a widower.

but dont you think at his age which must be in his 60's atleast that he would be more attracted to someone closer to his age, cat was only in her 20's.

Heck, I'm in my 60's and I'M attracted to Ms. Ballou! (But please don't tell my wife.)

reply

yes she is attractive but i thought with the context of the story ie he knows there is a cat ballou, that percavil would be on guard of strange women whom come to him for no apparent reason. also i thought a man of his standing would already have a regular whore whom he was familiar with.

He was told she is a gift from the town, right? "Trixie" isn't just showing up on her own, per that introduction.

As the old saying goes, "Don't look a gift horse in the mouth". Sir Harry is just pleased that he's in the company of this beautiful, young girl. Why the heck would he be more tempted by someone his age? That's been true throughout history: Youthful beauty is desirable.

Probably, he has this vision of Cat Ballou as being some sort of rough-hewn frontier woman, not this lovely lady he's meeting.

Why would an old, rich, corrupt businessman want to have sex with a prostitute he didn't know? I can't see that happening...said no one ever!

I know how you feel, Mister. I hate it when my igneous rocks are even touched!
