Disappointed (spoilers)

I had high hopes for this one after reading about it in Modern Drunkard Magazine, but it couldn’t deliver. There just wasn’t enough Lee Marvin, and it was a copout to have him turn sober for the showdown with Strawn. What was the point of showing him clearing his head with a bottle of whiskey and blowing away the target and the cans if he was just going to get sober when he had real killing to do? And if he was so determined to kill Strawn that he gives up booze, why does he later get hammered before the equally important rescue of Cat?

Besides Lee Marvin’s performance and Jane Fonda’s hotness, this was a disappointment. Even the musical interludes got stale by the end. That's what I think, anyway.

"why does he later get hammered before the equally important rescue of Cat?"

He was trying to win Cat's heart when he killed the bad guy. He only falls off the wagon after realizing she loves someone else.
