Dwayne Hickman

This guy was funny as hell. I really liked this movie. I just saw it today for the first time. Lee Marvin looked absolutely great when he was sober. I can see why the women all fell for him.

Dwayne Hickman ROCKS!! When we were kids, my brother and sister and I would run around the house going "I won't inflict myself on you...any further" and "Hallajulah, brother, I am here to comfort the sinner, and, all, like that" HAHAHA

As much as I like Dwayne Hickman, he was miscast here as the "uncle" of someone obviously no (or only a little) younger than he was. If it was a joke or some quirk of biology, the movie never explained it.

Hickman was the nephew, not the uncle.
In the barn dnce scene, Jed (Hickman) says that he would like to thank her for the help she gave "my uncle and me"....

Hey, I know people who are the same age, or older than their uncle or aunt.

In very large families, an oldest son or daughter could have a child the same time their mother is having their youngest sibling. The young sibling would be the uncle, and the child would be the nephew--and they would be the same age.

Do you really need to have that little joke explained? Sheesh.

He was also a cutie!!

He didn't have a lot to do in the film, but the delivery of his first line to Cat still makes me fall down laughing.

Fonda: We haven't been properly introduced. I'm Catherine Ballou.
Hickman: (leans toward her in preacher garb): I'm drunk as a skunk.
