Love it! That is quite amusing. Even if it is apocryphal it is still a great line and very "Cowardly".

I've heard Sir Noel credited with saying that before too! What a nasty old queen! LOL!

Perhaps it was a curse! Even though Mr. Dullea has worked consistently to this day, his name is not exactly what you would call "household"!

O, to be able to whip up a smart aleck remark at the drop of a beret. If half the quotes attributed to him are true, he had a "rapier like wit" indeed! Glad not to be at the receiving end of the barbs!

Kier was a beautiful man and straight. I think Noel was a bit jealous and frustrated. Great whip though.

I believe he's still alive but I know what you mean. I agree! He's also a fine actor. I recently saw Hoodlum Priest in which he makes his film debut. He was excellent in the role. He also does a great job in this movie. Now I look forward to seeing his other projects and will seek them out.

Meanwhile, Noel Coward is long gone. He may have had more name recognition but that's not something everyone strives for in their lives. The quip may seems clever to some but what exactly did he mean? Jealousy and frustration seem like the best explanation to me.

Or that because he was gay, he necessarily wanted to seduce every young straight man he met?

Rubbish.

He made the comment because he was one of the wittiest, most original people who ever lived. And because at the time, Mr. Dullea had quite a high opinion of himself and let everyone know it.

What ever happened to.....?

Saw Keir in a Law and Order SVU episode playing (excellently) a pedophile judge. Only vaguely recognized him. He's no longer the beautiful young boy he was in Bunny Lake.

He sure has an interesting name..,given the early 1960's when he got started.

Let's put aside Noel Coward's snarky and possibly apocryphal comment for the moment. Why the heck would people be criticizing Keir Dullea, a fine actor who made movies as memorable as "David and Lisa," "2001," and, yes, "Bunny Lake Is Missing"? He is most definitely alive -- despite the speculations of people who are too lazy to check their facts -- and he's still active in movies and TV. He'll be 80 this month. Of COURSE he's not a beautiful young boy any more. Can we give him a break? I LIKE his performances, and he was an asset to this movie.

I think that it was good casting to give him the role as Carol Lynley's brother in this. They really do come across as siblings.

It's a little more plebeian than noel Coward, but in Mad's sendup of the movie, they referred to him as Keir Dullard.

Mad's name for him was a bit cruel, tezzab, but Dullea does seem to be his real name. Perhaps he should have changed it at the start of his career to avoid such rather obvious jibes. (Coward isn't that brilliant a name either but it never seemed to do him any harm!).
