Is this the diverse-torture dungeon film I saw at a Drive-In c. 1966?

Help! Don't expect you to know the exact answer of course ... but I have always wanted to see this flick that I saw at a drive-in triple feature when I was real young that scared the bejeezus out of me. All I can remember was that it was a group of 5-8 travelers who stopped at this castle that just happened to have a torture dungeon. I remember some sort of breaking-wheel, an Iron Maiden, the Chinese water torture and maybe a 'Pit and the Pendulum' type thingie. Others too. Would this flick have had a wide theatrical release in the U.S.? I don't know if we would have been smart enough as kids to notice the film being dubbed ....

The only thing in your list not in this film was the Chinese water torture.
I think it did have a pretty wide release in the US, but I can't imagine anyone of any age being "scared" by it...

Other things that may have stuck in your mind as a kid: a giant spider and web so fake and irrelevant to the "plot" that you can't tell whether or not they're being portrayed as real, and a guy stripped down to a skimpy homo-erotic Captain Marvel costume preening, proclaiming and prancing around the castle...

It was at the same age (c. 7 y.o.) that I was being scared by the Mad Hatter and some of the other villains on the Batman ABC TV series ... so it's quite possible this film scared me too. You've told me enough that I want to try to find the VHS to see if this is it.

Thanks, omoo

yes, there was a water torture device. the woman was nude and on her knees and the ice-cold water was poured slowly on her back while she was bent over. may not be chinese, but definitely torture.

by the way, this movie was fantastic! i like it like i do the blind dead movies.

If you want to see this film, get the Something Weird Video DVD. It's much better quality than any other home video version.

An inexpensive way to see Bloody Pit of Horror is in the American Horror Stories [sic] 12-movie DVD box set, which sells new for about $6. Although there is no excuse for the way e.g. Horror Express looks in that set, horrible, Bloody Pit Of Horror looks good.

Movie translation in U.S. called "Bloody pit of horror". I think this is the movie you seen at the drive in in 1966.

I hope this is helpful.
