Bad print on Encore Western...

I just watched this on Encore Western-HD. It was pan-and-scan and severely cropped at top and bottom. Plus, the image was soft and a little fuzzy, like a VHS dupe. It's not a public domain film, yet it looked like a typical p.d. print. I've seen some of the other A.C. Lyles westerns this year, on both Amazon Prime and Encore Western, and they were also pan-and-scan but better looking than this. FORT UTAH, which ran on Encore Western earlier this month, looked only slightly better than BLACK SPURS.

So my question is: why doesn't Paramount spring for new widescreen prints of these movies? If I were program director at Encore Western (a dream job), I'd refuse prints like this and demand better ones. There has to be more effort made at the channel to run films in their proper aspect ratio. Last week, THE SONS OF KATIE ELDER, also from Paramount, was shown letter-boxed, so why can't more films be shown properly?

It must be the only print that's available because it's the print I just saw on Hulu. That's too bad 'cause this is a dynamic B Western with a worthy soap operatic story.
