Dancing on top of surfboard

Who is the surfer boy dancing on top of the surfboard with Linda Opie during the opening song?

According to a photo caption in this entry "Instrumental Surf Music" from Vermont Public Radio's "My Place with Joel Najman," the dancer with Linda Opie is Johnny Fain:

Now I'm not so sure about the identity of Linda Opie. She's not credited with "Beach Blanket Bingo" either on the IMDB film page, or on her actress page (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0649099/). I think she's a dancer I remember from several beach movies, but the actress page credits her with only 2. The actress page has a news article link that mentions Salli Sachse, but not Linda Opie. Are Linda Opie and Salli Sachse the same person?

I got confirmation this week from beach girl Salli Sachse, that it is indeed surfer Johnny Fain dancing with Linda Opie atop the surfboard. Thank you for your response. IMDB is a wonderful site, but sometimes wrong. The photo on Linda Opie's page is actually Salli. The two surfer girls often wore their hair similarly, IMDB made a mistake.

Thanks for that, noname1479. It looks like Linda Opie is credited as Linda Bent in BBB.

One of the great things about IMDB is that users can submit suggestions for changes and corrections to data.

I'd like to report that the actress pages for Linda Opie and Linda Bent should be merged, with the alternate name added, but I'm not comfortable doing that without documentation, which IMDB would want anyway.

If you're in touch with Salli Sachse (and Linda Opie?), they would be the best to make the changes. I believe only the actors/actresses or their agents can submit photos, but a photo error can probably be reported by any user.

Technically her name is Linda Opie Bent. Bent is her married name. I believe she started making the early beach movies as Linda Opie. I believe she got married while making the movies mid cycle, therefore, she's been credited as both.

Correction of photo on Linda's page: Linda is not interested in the movies or show biz. I don't think she'd care that there is misinformation about her on the internet. I really don't want to bother Salli with anything too trivial. But for accuracy's sake, it would be nice if IMDB removed Salli's pic and put up Linda's. I don't know how to contact IMDB's management.

If you email me a reminder, I'll give you some interesting trivia about those 2.

Suggesting changes to an IMDB page isn't too difficult to do. On the page, near the name, you'll see "Contribute to IMDb. Add a bio, trivia, and more. Update information for ...."
Another way to get there: There's a section "Contribute to This Page" and a button for "Edit page."

When you're on the editing page, it walks you through all the elements where changes can be made. I've done these in the past for films or names.

I went ahead and submitted corrections to have the Linda Opie entries move to Linda Bent, and to show those early films with a credit "as Linda Opie".

I found this article about Linda and Salli, and submitted it for a News entry on the Linda Bent page:
"Linked by tragedy, films"
San Diego Union-Tribune, August 13, 2006
http://www.signonsandiego.com/uniontrib/20060813/news_lz1j13linked.htm l

It usually takes a long time for changes to take effect. If these changes are applied, then it'll be worth trying to clear up the photo mis-match, and the news article on the "Linda Opie" page that's really for Salli.

Anytime you'd like to share your trivia, I'll enjoy reading it. You've helped a lot already.
