Slim wants Georgette?

Does anyone feel he has a thing for her? He is more than happy to send Henry back to the pen.

I don't think so, it's only been two years since his wife died and he doesn't seem too interested in women. I think because he grew up with Henry and knows him so well he feels sorry for her.

At first I too thought maybe he was interested, but then again, I think maybe he just misses his wife, and wishes he had a family like Henry....you can feel that when he looks in the window after Henry's brawl, and Georgette is nursing Henry's wounds, and again when they're all discussing the weather and Georgette asks him if he thinks their little house will keep warm. He agrees, but it seems like he thinks it'll be warm with love & family, and I think he's just missing that himself, not Georgette in particular.

To me, it seemed like there were a lot of broken dreams in this movie. Not having a wife and family was Slim's broken dream.

Very good analysis.
I didn't see Slim lusting after Georgette, just sad for her. And sad for Henry, wishing he could redeem himself, but that just wasn't possible. Slim did his job dutifully and with as much care and empathy as he could muster.
