quick question... who is Chigusa?

i know she is Masea's sister but in the wedding scene, Chigusa brings in the cups and Yasumoto asks her about her baby?!!

he talks to her as if he saved her baby and Chigusa's father even thanks him for it!!!

When does Yasumoto meet this Chigusa? have i messid something?

also, earlier in the film Masea talks to Yasumoto outside of the clinic and apologises for her sisters behaviour??

i am totally confused!

initially i assumed Chigusa was 'the mantis' but that isn't true because when Akihage argue's with the mantis's father about her suicide attempt - the two fathers (in the wedding scene and the argument scene) are not the same actor???

i think Chigusa was the girl Yashumoto was supposed to marry before he came to the village clinic, but she ran off with her lover thus breaking her engagement with Yashumoto. her family disowned her for this. now she had a child and her family wanted to accept their grandchild, and the only way for it to happen was that if Yashumoto agreed to marry Chigusa's sister Masea.thus forgiving both Chigusa and her family.and thats what Yashumoto did in the end allowing Chigusa to be reunited to her family.
