AGH bad movie!

I just had to watch this art clas and man was it BORING! I'm not one for old(er) movies, and this one just put me to sleep. It was drawn out, and well, not at all the type of movie I like.... I had to take notes on it too for a quiz this Monday..*groan*

And I saw it two days ago on a huge Cinerama Screen in the restorated Todd AO 70mm Print and it was absorbing, spectacular, great, irresistible unforgettable....
Did you see it on your TV set

well, what would you reccommend to show to an artclass of middle school kids?

I'm in high school, and I think I'd rather just read some boring packet or watch a history channel show about it(The fact that it's acted and not informative bothers me..) xD Or just draw instead of having to watch anything at all. (We usually just do art history packets for hw)

Well, you are sort of right. The movie is not about art per se. It is about history and drama both of which obviously bore you. I hope you do find art interesting.

I beg to differ, Deusvolt. It is alot to do with art. I enjoyed Hestons performance. He portrayed Michelangelo as strong, sure and true. The part that is really great is how he gets INSPIRATION to paint the ceiling! It is just marvelous! the whole movie deals with ARTISTIC VISION and the compromises that artists must make to do what they do.

Samiblah...I highly encourage you to sit down and watch it again...even if you have to take it in piecemeal fashion (little bit at a time)

I, too, had to watch it for my art class (though it's college level art). I thought it was spectacular. Harrison and Heston work very well together. It is a great movie and I certainly wouldn't mind sitting through it again.

I am in highschool as well but thought it was a good movie (we watched it in our art history class). Though my teacher said the part about Contessina is not complety correct or at least can't be proven, he thinks it is a great way to learn about the artist and his work aand the relationship between Patron and Artist.
