Worst. series. ever.

It was stupid then and it's stupid now. The horrible horrible very no-good saga of a boring family, their tedious minging stowaway somehow called a doctor, and the robot who was the only intelligent character on the planet (or show). I'll give a slight boost to June Lockhart who was fresh out of the prairie waiting for Lassie to rescue Timmy and Billy Mumy who will forever be the boy who could wish you into the cornfield, but the credibility bar set by the show was as low as you could go while above ground.
The sets were cheesy cardboard, the latex and pasta aliens who bothered to show up were somehow gifted with the technology to come and go, disappear and reappear, but were often incapable of speech or when they could speak they had nothing intelligent to say. It is astonishing that this vapid show lasted more than a season.
The show wins out for living in public memory the way Uncle Dan remembers Las Vegas for the tooth-ache he had when he was there.
Most.irritating.character.ever. Dr. Smith.
Memorable Quotes:
"Warning, warning!" by the nameless robot to which the Simpsons added 30 years later: "Danger danger my hooks are flailing wildly"
Dr. Smith's "Oh, the pain, the pain!" as apt a statement as ever for those who were too inert to get up and change the channel in those pre-remote days.

Hmm, something tells me YOU are one that LOVES "Star Wars"... That TOTALLY realistic sci-fi franchise. For instance:

People thousands of years in the future that dress like the 12th century French.

"Warriors" that jump, spin and can ward off laser attacks by "sensing" an enemy 100 yards away, yet can't see what an asswipe Anakin Skywalker was.

Futuristic vehicles that can hover, yet run on gasoline engines.

Have interstellar craft that, for some reason, have wings with no purpose(except to look "cool").

Memorable quotes.... "Use the force, Luke!" , "I sense a disturbance in the force", "I have a bad feeling about this", etc. etc.

Yes, 2017 depictions of alien worlds, with ALL the CGI and technology at their disposal, are MUCH BETTER than a 60's TV show with a limited budget and absolutely NO graphics.
I have an idea... go troll a board that is comfortable with your *beep*

Thanks for the opportunity to rank on SW: Its claim to fame was good effects in 1977. Otherwise it was 'space opera' and IMHO not very good space opera. For me, it's all about three things: story, then story, then story. "The Force" and the lame back and forth between 3CPO and R2D2 didn't do squat for me- And the releases of the 'first' three episodes were worse. I found 'em unwatchable. I found "The Force Awakens" blah.

So what do I like? For good story in the classic era: The Day The Earth Stood Still, Forbidden Planet, and a soft spot for "Quatermass and the Pit"

"Firefly" movie and series was everything that Star Wars should have been.

Now let's talk about what you DIDN'T like about Lost In Space.

Fasten your seatbelts, it's going to be a bumpy night.

To each his own. You won't find many on this board to agree with you. Not that you care or I care for that matter! We on this board also discuss the cheesy costumes and crazy storylines but it's with love and nostalgia for the series!

Worst. series. ever.

Who can tell what is the worst series ever? Who has watched all the series that are considered notoriously bad, and if someone has been foolish enough to do so, why should anyone trust the judgement of such a foolish person?

One series that is often called the worst ever is My Mother the Car (1965-1966). It wasn't very good but seems over hyped as the worst ever. Some of the creators of My Mother the Car also worked on the more successful The Bob Newhart Show (1972-1978). In one episode Bob gave a lecture on educational TV but froze up and couldn't speak. He said that was the worst TV show ever and his neighbor Howard (played by Bill Daley who was on an episode of My Mother the Car) said "No, the second episode of My Mother the Car was the worst TV show ever".

Anyway, I have fond memories of Lost in Space.

It was pretty bad, but still occupies a warm spot in my heart. As an 8-12 year old, it held my imagination. It was a much simpler time then.

Side note, Star Wars was set in the distant past

lol..how dare you, sir. Please do not exaggerate so much. This is far, far, far from the "Worst. series. ever." Not even close. In fact, it is a beloved classic that is still very popular with a big fan base today. To each their own. It will always be my personal all-time sentimental favorite. It does not matter if it is not the most cerebral and realistic show. It had wonderful charm and it was very fun. None of the family was "boring." Nothing about the show was boring. It was all fun entertainment, in one way or another. Classic B&W Season One was one of the "Best. seasons. ever." And I am talking about any series in history. I love it! :-]

I'm pretty sure the worst show ever was 1969's "Turn On," starring Tim Conway. It was an hour long show, and it was cancelled after the first half hour of its premier episode.

Dr. Smith ruins this show for me. He, alone, makes it unbearable.
