Wallace Beery

Was Neville Brand intentionally impersonating him on this show or was it done unintentionally? Whatever the truth, he does a good job of aping him. 😃

No blah, blah, blah!

Are you kidding? Neville Brand doesn't look or sound at all like Beery...

I didn't say he looked like Beery or even that he sounded like him most of the time. However, on Laredo, he's clearly trying to imitate Beery.

Whether or not it was an intentional impersonation, I think you could say that Brand was playing a Wallace Beery TYPE.

And in the mid 1960s, Wallace Beery movies werent' that long ago -- 30 years or so. That's back to 1993 as I post this in 2023.

"At the movies," Wallace Beery was considered the star protoype (against handsome men and pretty boys) for such later character stars as Walter Matthau, George C. Scott(in some roles) and James Gandolfini.
