Trips to Mexico
Just how many episodes are there that they are going to Mexico?
Seems like every other episode which it odd since Mexico is not exactly a place for spy central.
There were two blocks of episodes shot in Mexico, one at the end of the first season (10 episodes) and one at the end of the third season, and the series (8 episodes). There were 82 episodes total in the series -- 18 out of 82 works out to roughly 2 out of every 9. Which is a lot, but hardly every other one.
If you're watching on the Retro Network, though, I've noticed they tend to repeat the same episodes over and over again: could very well be that they are showing Mexican episodes as frequently as you say you're seeing them. I know they've soured me on some episodes just by constantly repeating them; others held up surprisingly well.
As for Mexico as a center of international intrigue: I'm no expert but I believe Leon Trotsky would disagree with you on that ;-)
I took a cruise to Mexico a couple of years ago. I loved Acapulco. The cruise ships aren't going there any more. I wish Mexico were as beautiful and safe as it seems in those episodes. Thosee apparently were the days.
