Other Message Boards

Now that IMDb in their infinite wisdom is shutting down their message board section, I thought it prudent to have a thread we can use to navigate to other message boards and sites.

There are two known in the IDoJ community, though one is much less active. Sitcoms Online has a good board for us, and has been relatively active throughout its history. "We Dream of Jeannie" is a site that has a forum section, but it's been pretty dead for over a year. I'll link it anyway, but it's rather difficult to get a membership from them.

The third link is for the fanfic section of Fanfiction.net, because it at least allows people to leave reviews of the stories posted.

If y'all have any other suggestions, please post them 

I was actually active at Sitcoms Online before I ever came here, so that's probably where I will go.

I have an account there, too (two, actually, though I'm retiring the djinni_taur account.) Same name as here, so I'll be easy to find 

I MAY have let my old account go abandoned, so I might have to make another one, But I remember I joined there like EARLY in 2003, then I remember starting to post here like mid 2003, BUT my account says I registered in 2001, but sure do not remember being here then lol

Someone(s) aught to go through all the wiki pages and replace the IMDb links with alternatives.

If traffic drops, maybe the forums will stay/come back.

You're welcome to try, but I doubt it would work. My educated guess on why they are dropping the boards is that it's costing them money. Have a look at how modern/popular movies get swamped with trolls. It's a headache no one would want, even if the mods are unpaid volunteers.

Notice, too, how boards like this one (i.e., old and/or low-popularity movies/shows) have their archives deleted. If you go to page 5 of threads here, you'll see that they stop at less than a year old. How many informative conversations have we lost? It's common complaint across all boards. There's no recourse for fans other than to leave and go to places that are theme-specific message boards (such as those just for IDoJ.)

Well, there's some good news.

I've got some posts in my [very distant] past that I'm not too proud of. Youthful indiscretion, and what-not.

This will grow here

One thing I forgot to mention about the FanFiction site is that message boards can be created there. The primary use for them is so fanfic-writers can talk to other writers and fans, on ideas, to brainstorm, or even do things like round-robins.
