Remember hearing HH was popular in West Germany


Not sure in what way Germans found it amusing. Humor, outside of slapstick and Mr. Bean, doesn’t tend to travel that well and WW2 would seem to be a more sensitive subject in Germany than anywhere except possibly Japan.

I think that most people can laugh at themselves to some degree. I remember a marketing course I took many years ago while in college. It was stated that people of British and German backgrounds were perhaps the least sensitive to what they saw on television which can be both good and bad.
